Facility Rentals

Thank you for considering the SCA and the Strathcona Community Centre for your upcoming function.

We are proud of our newly renovated, air-conditioned facility and feel it is one of the nicest options in Calgary, whether for large events for 150-300 people or smaller meetings for 20.

Our features:

A) Flat rates – no hidden charges, no corkage fees etc.

B) Round tables (72″ diameter, seat 10 people) and rectangular tables are available. You are responsible for setting up tables & chairs – but you do NOT need to put them away, our caretaking staff will do this.

C) Small audio system and microphone available; large screen from ceiling for use with your own video equipment.

D) Weddings and large events can set up the space as you see fit (no pins on walls, no candles, no helium balloons, and no confetti-rice-flower petals).

E) A fabulous loft ideal for the wedding ceremony – then go downstairs for the party!

F) You choose the caterer you want – no restrictions or recommendations from us.

G) Commercial kitchen facilities. Caterers are to leave the kitchen clean. Included in rental of Main Hall; extra charge for kitchen access with other rentals – may not always be available or accessible with the room you rent.

Main Hall

Capacity: 350 theatre-style, 245 dining tables & chairs, 200 with dance floor

All Main Hall bookings require a refundable damage deposit of $500 – usually a pre-authorized hold on your credit card, which is released after your event, if there are no damages or extra cleaning charges.

Saturday – Weddings / Large Events Rental rate: $2250 + GST

Rental is for the full building – to guarantee exclusivity for your special event. This includes the main level (main banquet hall, kitchen & lounge) and upper level (open loft and two small rooms) all day Saturday from 8am until Sunday at 2:30am. A discounted rate is available for events that do not require full-day setup – please call the office at 403-249-1138 to enquire.

Non-refundable deposit: $600 to hold booking, payment is deducted from final rental amount. Damage deposit ($500) and final payment are due two weeks prior to the event and at that time arrangements will be made for key pick-up.

If you require the hall on Friday night for set-up (and if it is available) there is a discounted charge of $250.00 + GST. Access will be after 4:00 pm on Friday.

Fridays (available after 4 pm) Rental rate: $750 + GST for the Main Hall & Kitchen only. If you wish to rent the whole community center (to guarantee exclusivity) $1200 + GST.

Sundays (available after 1:15pm)

1:15pm – midnight, Main Hall + Kitchen, $650 + GST

1:15pm – midnight, Full Building, $1200 + GST

Week Days*

The main hall is usually NOT available mid-week due to regular classes & activities booked in the hall, yet there are sometimes exceptions. Please contact the SCA office at 403-249-1138 or info@scacalgary.ca to enquire.

Tables & Chairs:

Round, 72″ diameter, seat 10 people, 23 tables

Rectangle, 30″ x 70″, seat 6-8 people, 40 tables

Square, 36″ x 36″, seat 4 people, 12 tables

Black cloth chairs, 300 on main floor

Navy plastic chairs, 130 on upper level

Founders Room • (main floor)

Rental rate: $45.00 + GST per hour – Minimum 2 hour rental – to a maximum of $250.00 + GST

Capacity: 60 people theatre style or 30 at tables.

Rectangular room, oak fireplace, windows running length of east face providing spectacular city view, easy access to kitchen (at extra charge, if available). Ideal for meetings, business presentations and social gatherings such as anniversaries, birthday parties etc.

Loft • (upstairs)

All Loft bookings require a refundable damage deposit of $500.

Rental rate: $50.00 + GST per hour (min 2 hr rental) to a maximum of $300.00 + GST

Capacity: 150 people theatre style or 90 – 100 at tables

Large carpeted room with cathedral ceiling, cathedral type windows overlooking the city, sliding glass doors to balcony overlooking hall. Ideal for wedding ceremonies, but not suitable for food service – carpeted, no access to kitchen.
