Creative Expression, Art and Writing Camps

Ages 8-12

In these lively and highly interactive sessions with local children’s author Simon Rose, participants will draw, create, write and invent their own superhero or country.  Camps will be held at the SCA Community Centre, 277 Strathcona Drive SW.

Super Stuff – Create your Own Superhero!

August 2 – 5, $120+GST

9am-noon, or 1-4pm

Children will create their own unique superheroes, with incredible powers, an origin story, a secret identity, headquarters, an arch enemy and more. Students will draw their creation, create a cover for a comic book and write an action packed, concise newspaper story, complete with an attention-grabbing headline, about a recent battle the hero had with the main villain. This half-day camp is available in either the morning or the afternoon, and is for children ages 8-12.

Fabulous Fantasy Realms – Invent Your Own Country!

August 22 – 26,  $150+GST

9am-noon, or 1-4pm

Children will create their very own imaginary country, complete with imaginative maps, fantastic flags and banners, unique coins and paper money, myths and legends, magical objects, plus unique imaginary animals, featuring special powers, diet, habitat and more. This half-day camp is available in either the morning or the afternoon and is for children ages 8-12.
